They probably want you do do it this way:
(-5+i)/(2i) * (i/i)
= (-5i + i^2)/(2i^2) , recall that i^2 = -1
= (-5i - 1)/(-2)
= (1 + 5i)/2
(-5+i)/(2i) * (i/i)
= (-5i + i^2)/(2i^2) , recall that i^2 = -1
= (-5i - 1)/(-2)
= (1 + 5i)/2
