                I completely forgot the rules but....
if you have
((1-x)^1/2)^2
Then would you multiply the exponents to get 2/2 = 1
or add them to get 3/2
            
        if you have
((1-x)^1/2)^2

    raising to a power means multiply exponents
Surely you recall that (√x)^2 = x
That's the definition of √x
