Why should teachers avoid holiday crafts in the early childhood setting?

I don't think they should avoid holiday crafts -- unless they have a significant number of Jehovah's Witness students.
Of course, the teachers should try to incorporate as many different religious and ethnic holidays as possible.

But at the same time aren't you providing false accusations that santa clause is real. Holiday crafts frequently promote stereotypes AND provide false information to children

Oh, come on! Hundreds of generations of children have learned myths and traditional stories and have been enriched because of them.
What false information or stereotypes would children receive if they made a pinata or Christmas ornaments or Islamic calligraphy or made Hannukah treats?

but they don't know the meaning behind the holiday. If you ask a child whats the first thing that come up when you say Christmas they automatically say presents. we as a society have shown them that they shall always receive presents for Christmas

I put more blame on the parents than the children. However, for many adults, Christmas is not about religion, but about long-established customs of feasting, tree, decorations, and presents.
