A function of two variables is given by, f(x,y) = e^2x-3y Find the tangent approximation to f(0.989,1.166) near (0,0), giving your answer to 4 decimal places.

Wow. The point is not very near (0,0,1), but
z-1 = ∂z/∂x (x-0) + ∂z/∂y (y-0)
z - 1 = 2x - 3y
z = 2x-3y+1
so plug in your (x,y) and chug away
