A. have an ear for language.
B. receive certification in ESL instruction, if possible.
C. speak at least one other language besides English.
D. have prior teacher aide experience in a “regular” classroom.

I do not think (a) is the right answer. That would be a good quality to have, but (c) speak another language- is the right answer. Think about it, if your an esl teacher and you only know English, how do you teach the class that doesn't understand you? And I know (d) and (b) are not right because you don't need any experience to be an esl teacher. Hope that helps

C is not correct. It's nice, but not necessary.

B and D would be nice, too.

Vanessa, what if a person is an ESL teacher who is fluent in English and German ... and then gets a class with students whose original languages are Hmong, Taiwanese, and Farsi??
