Consider the following compound:

uranium (VI) sulfate

I think the answer is U2(SO4)6

but I'm not sure if I need to simplify it to U(SO4)3

The simplified formula is the empirical formula. It may form a dimer which would make the U2(SO4)6 the molecular formula.
