by reducing the s.p. of an article by rs.50 a gain of 5% changes into loss of 5% find the original s.p. of the article.

1.05c = s
s-50 = 0.95c
s-50 = 0.95(s/1.05)
1.05s - 52.50 = .95s
.1s = 52.50
s = 525
c = 500

525 = 500*1.05 a 5% gain
475 = 500*0.95 a 5% loss
