Is there a difference in current between two ciruits if one circuit has the lightbulbs in series while the other one has them in parallel.

Yes, a very big difference. The circuit with N bulbs in parallel draws N^2 times the total current as a circuit with N bulbs in series. Each bulb received 1/N^2 as much power as it would in a parallel circuit.
