What kind of questions would a detective ask a witness of a murder? how often would the detective come to the witness if he or she was closely related to the victims? ie daughter/son?

Some of the classic questions for a witness who was not closely related:
What did you think of the victim?
What was your relationship with the victim?
Why were you in that place at that time?
Based on the witness's answers, more questions would be asked.
The detective would ask close relatives similar questions, but would be more sympathetic -- at least at first.
