Ms. Sue
Do it the same way I showed you for the last problem.
If you post your answer, I'll be glad to check it for you.

Okay. 3=r/16+4 My teacher told me to cross multiply so:
16x4=64
Then I get lost because I don't know the next step except to subtract three from both sides which gives you r/16=43.

I don't think you understood your teacher.
Here's my way of solving this problem.
3=r/16+4
We need to get the known quantities on one side of the equation. In this problem, we subtract 4 from each side.
3 - 4 = r/16 + 4 - 4
-1 = r/16
Multiply both sides of the equation by 16
-1 * 16 = r
-16 = r
Let's check it.
3=r/16+4
3 = -16/16 + 4
3 = 4 - 1
3 = 3
Yep! It works!

Oh. That makes more sense. Thank you. I have four more problems so I will work one more out so you could check it.
-11=v/2-6
Add 6 to each side
-11+6=v/2-6+6
-5=v/2
-5x2=v
v=-10
Is this correct Mrs. Sue?
-11=v/2-6
Add 6 to each side
-11+6=v/2-6+6
-5=v/2
-5x2=v
v=-10

Ms. Sue
Yay! You're right!
j
Yay!! Thank you so much Mrs. Sue you really helped me!
Ms. Sue
You're very welcome, j. :-)
