Calculate the relative concentrations of o-ethylbenzoic acid (pKa 3.79) and potassium o-ethylbenzoate that are needed to prepare a pH 4.0 buffer
I know to set up hassle equation but when i get .21=log[a-/ha] i get lost because i was not given concentrations .. please help explain.

The problem asks for RELATIVE concentrations. So
0.21 = log (base/acid)
(base/acid) = 1.62
(base( = 1.62*(acid)
0.21 = log (base/acid)
(base/acid) = 1.62
(base( = 1.62*(acid)
