Discuss how accurately the Belgian Congo described by Conrad compares to the Historical record of the Belgian Congo.

Although i'm finished my essay i'm still unsure of this topic:
The topic is that I have to research the colonical history of the Belgian Congo, and discuss Heart of Darkness' portrayal of and commentary on it.
Does this mean I have to discuss Heart of Darkness' portrayal and commentary of the Congo or am I discussing the portrayal and commentary of Colonialization in that area?
