Grace is building a brick wall along her driveway. She estimates that one row of brinks plus mortar will be 2 3/8 inches high. How many rows will she need to construct a wall that is 57 inches high?

would i change the fraction into an improper fraction to multiply the 57?

Yes -- but you need to divide.

57 / (19/8) =

57 * (8/19) = 24 row
