I can tell you what happened to my grandfather about 1915.

He owned a furniture store in a small town in Indiana. He sold furniture to about everyone in town. Then, people began to buy automobiles, and they went to a larger town a few miles away for their shopping. Many people abandoned my grandfather's store.

This is one example of technology changing the way people bought goods.

My answer: New technologies changed the way people bought goods by being able to transport them quicker and with less difficulty, which caused people to purchase goods more frequently.

Aircraft was mainly the transportation which transported goods.
Answered by Ms. Sue
No! No!

In the 1800s, aircraft hadn't even been invented. The Wright Brothers made the first flight in 1903, but it wasn't until about 1950 that aircraft began to be used to transport many passengers or much freight.

What method of transportation was new in the 1800s?

Rural free delivery, established by the post office, which brought packages directly to homes in rural areas?
Answered by Ms. Sue
RFD started in 1896. I don't think that had much to do with how people bought things.
