I will assume the first one is correct.
9+(P+3)P=?
Clear the parentheses and multiply by P.
9 + P^2 + 3P = 0 (I guess this is zero although you didn't say what it was equal to). Now rearrange to
P^2 + 3P + 9 = 0
I would use the quadratic formula.
