I need to expand the expression without exponents. We haven't covered this yet so I am confused on how to do both of them
Log x4y7/4
4
log x^8/√yz^5
4
Thanks, for your help.

log(a^b) = b log(a)
log(ab) = log(a) + log(b)
since 1/b = b^-1,
log(a/b) = log(a) - log(b)
since √a = a^(1/2),
log √a = 1/2 log a
log x^4y^7/4 = 4logx + 7logy - log4
so you should be able to do the other
if these problems involve logs base 4, that doesn't matter. The rules of logs are independent of the base.
