I'm terrible at describing things. My prof wants me to give a visual/sensory description of this Child care center I wrote a profile story on... What's some advice on writing descriptive?

One of the best ways to think about writing descriptions is to pick a direction!
~ start at the left and work your way around to the right
~ start at the right and work your way around to the left
~ start at the top and work your way to the bottom
~ start at the bottom and work your way to the top
For describing a room, I'd choose one of the first two. For a scene (landscape), I'd choose one of the last two.
