A piece of wood is 8 ft long is to be divided into two pieces where one of the two is twice as long as two feet less than the other piece. What are the sizes of the two parts

L = Length of 1st piece.
2(L-2) = Length of 2nd piece.

L + 2(L-2) = 8 Ft.
3L - 4 = 8
3L = 12
L = 4 Ft.
2(L-2) = 2(4-2) = 4 Ft.
