The price of a fan increased by 25% to $48.75. Find the original price of the fan.

This is how I did it.
100/25%=400.
48.75-4.00= 44.25.
I'm not sure if I'm solving it the correct way can someone help please

not quite....

let the original price be x
1.25x = 48.75
x = 48.75/1.25 = $39.00

check:
25% of 39 = 9.75
new price =39+ 9.75 = 48.75
