How do you cite a website in a paper? I know it is in parentheses, but that is pretty much all I know.

So are you saying I should put all of this:

Lynch, T. (1996). DS9 trials and tribble-ations review. Retrieved
October 8, 1997, from Psi Phi: Bradley's Science Fiction Club
We b site: h t t p: / /w w w .bradley. edu /campus org/psiphi/DS9/ep/
503r . html

in parentheses after the use of the source?

That doesn't really explain what I should put in my citation or where I should put it. All I'd really like is a simple explanation of what to include and where to include it.

You need to have the website noted in TWO places:

the Works Cited page that is placed after the last page of your paper, and

in parentheses in the text of your paper, immediately after the quotation or paraphrase.

For example, this will go on the Works Cited page:

Lynch, T. (1996). DS9 trials and tribble-ations review. Retrieved
October 8, 1997, from Psi Phi: Bradley's Science Fiction Club
We b site: h t t p: / /w w w .bradley. edu /campus org/psiphi/DS9/ep/
503r . html

... and this will go immediately after the quotation or whatever:
(Lynch)

The stuff in parentheses in the text needs to be as brief as possible. That's why there's a Works Cited page -- for all the details of the listing.

Please let me know if this isn't clear.

=)

Here's a good place for information:

Hold your cursor over the words CITING SOURCES in the left column and then click on Electronic Sources/Internet. Many examples will show up. You will get two examples for each type of reference -- one for the Works Cited page and one for the parenthetical (in-text) citation.

You can also see what a Works Cited page looks like -- click on Sample Works Cited in the left column.

=)

Thanks a lot! That really helps! :)

You're very welcome. Please don't hesitate to let us know if it gets confusing. It's sometimes rather tricky!!
