In the first case the body of larger animals is subject to overheating because the heat generation rate increases faster than the cooling rate as animals become larger. In other words, [(size)^3 increases faster than (size)^2] . "Size" refers to a linear dimension.
In the second case, the probalems oif supporting the body increase with size, because weight increases with volume, (size)^3, while the load-bearing strength of bones increases with (size)^2
Think on the dinosaurs...
