which is a better metaphor. when tom came out of the shower, he was cleaner then a bar of soap or when sarah was reading her book, she was glued to it.
if one of them is right, try to fix up the sentence because my teacher said that those sentences are improper and then write a better sentence to the original sentence.

The first one is not a metaphor. Do you see why?
Sarah was glued to the fascinating book she was reading.
