Question
A bottle of juice holds 3/8 gallon when it is full, if 1/3 of the juice has been poured out, how much juice is left? Is this subtracting fractions or multiplying??
Answers
subtract
3/8 - 1/3
9/24 - 8/24= 1/24
3/8 - 1/3
9/24 - 8/24= 1/24
Ms. Sue
Both. First multiply.
3/8 * 1/3 = 3/24 = 1/8
Now subtract.
3/8 - 1/8 = 2/8 = 1/4 of a gallon
3/8 * 1/3 = 3/24 = 1/8
Now subtract.
3/8 - 1/8 = 2/8 = 1/4 of a gallon
