the question probably says
tanØ = 38 and sinØ = 8/32
a statement like
sin = 8/32 is a "mathematical sin"
sin is a trig operator and needs an argument
that is like saying
√ = 12 , another meaningless statement.

if tanØ = 38 , we also have to know if Ø is in degrees or radians
for degrees:
set you calculator to degree mode
enter:
2nd tan

you should get 88.49°
do the same for the sine
and repeat if you need radians.
