How did environmental features in Anatolia help the Hittites advance technologically? The Hittites were the first to use iron for weapons, because the materials they needed were easily in the mountains of Anatolia. Iron was easy to get to for the Hittites so they took that opportunity to use iron. It made them experiment with Iron to make newer technology. The also mad charcoal.

Using this map, I'd add the barriers of the Black and Mediterranean Seas meant that invaders didn't have easy access to Anatolia. Also, note the many rivers in this land.
