one type of lightning bug glows once every 1 1/2 seconds. how many times can it glow in 1 minute

Divide 60 by 1.5

Bea can run 1/6 mile in 2 minutes. how long should it take her to run 2 miles?

Cross multiply and solve this proportion for x.

(1/6)/2 = 2/x

So the first one is 40

Second one is 3? I don't know

Or is it 6?
Answered by Ms. Sue
(1/6)/2 = 2/x

(1/6)x = 4

x = 4/(1/6)

x = 4 * (6/1

x = 24 minutes to run 2 miles

Yes, 40 is correct for the first one about the lightning bug.

Another way to solve the miles/minutes problem is this way.

She runs 1/6 of a mile in 2 minutes. It must take her 12 minutes to run 1 mile. So she take 24 minutes to run 2 miles.
