use ^ for exponents
using synthetic division, the remainders are:
(x-2): 8m-4n+9
(x-1): m-n+4
so, we now know
8m-4n+9 = -39
m-n+4 = 3
(m,n) = (-11,-10)
f(x) = -11x^2 + 10x^2 + 5x - 1
