                What is the (a) maximum and (b) minimum total resistance value that can be obtained using three resistors whose values are 2.0 ohms, 4.0ohms and 6.0 ohms? The resistors can be used individually, in pairs, or all three at once.
Is this a trick question? Is the answer 12 and 2?

    for minimum resistance, put them in parallel. Parallel resistance is given
1/Rt=1/2+1/4+1/6=(6+3+2)/12
Rt=12/11 ohm
