I have to identify an introductory technique that could be used to grab the reader’s attention and showcase the main idea for an essay, explain why I selected this technique, where it would be useful, and where might it not work. I know all of the types of introductions but I don't know if that's what this means, any opinions? Please help if you can, and if you want me to provide the few introduction types I have I can just so you know I am not cheating on my work.

Okay I have read about all five and the techniques that stood out the most were declarative and surprising statement. What one do you think would be best for a compare and contrast essay about flat irons and curling irons? Please help and provide an example, I am showing favor towards the flat iron but equally evaluating them.
