explain which is more accurate: measuring to the nearest millimeter or to the nearest eighth of an inch

1 inch = 2.54 cm
1 inche = 25.4 mm
1/8 inch = 3.175 mm


Since it takes appr 3 mm to cover 1/8 inch
the mm would be the more accurate measurement,
e.g to be off by 1/8 of an inch is the same as being off by 3 mm

another way:
1 inch measured in 1/8 units takes 8 divisions of a ruler
1 inche measured in mm units takes 25 divisions on a ruler.
