do this one just like Reiny showed you earlier on
(18-n)^(1/2)=(n/8)^(1/2)

ok - first square both sides
(2v-7) = (v-3)^2
2v - 7 = v^2 - 6v + 9
v^2 - 8v + 16 = 0
(v-4)^2 = 0
v = 4
check:
√(8-7) = 4-3
yes
(2v-7) = (v-3)^2
2v - 7 = v^2 - 6v + 9
v^2 - 8v + 16 = 0
(v-4)^2 = 0
v = 4
check:
√(8-7) = 4-3
yes
