850 hectare = ? km^2

850 ha (1 km/100 ha) = 8.5km^2

Is this conversions correct? not just the answer but also how I got to the answer. PLEASE let me know if im on the right track, thanks!

ha is an area measure
km is a length measure

1 ha = 10,000m^2
850 ha = 8,500,000 m^2

1km = 1000m
1km^2 = (1000m)^2 = 1,000,000 m^2

so, 850 ha = 8.5 km^2

so, your answer is correct, but your conversion factor should have been written

1km^2 / 100ha
