How do you get these problems??
1 3/4 + 4/5 and 3 1/8 - 1 1/2

When you add and subtract fractions, you need to use their common denominators.

1 3/4 + 4/5 = 1 15/20 + 16/20 = 1 31/20 = 2 11/20
