Asked by Samantha
In a bunsen burner experiment, when you place a piece of soot covered chalk over the hottest part of the flame, it changes back to a white color. What is the equation for this process?

The soot is carbon, or lamp black, and it is being converted to CO2, a gas, in the Bunsen flame
C(s) + O2(g) ==> CO2(g)
C(s) + O2(g) ==> CO2(g)
