Please describe how you would approximately 0.050 M standard solution of NaCl by dissolving the appropriate amount of the salt in a 250 mL volumetric flask.

you want .05 moles per liter, so for a quarter liter, then .05/4 or .0125 moles of NaCl (35+23=58gmolmass) or .0125*.58 grams NaCl. Add salt, stir.
