8 - 3x = 128
Subtract 8 from both sides.
-3x = 120
x = 120/-3
x = -40
Can someone explain this to me?? I don't understand why you would subtract 8 and not add 8... also, why did the 3 suddenly become a negative? HELP ;D

Because on the left side, 8 is already positive and you want to get rid if it. You would then subtract 8 on both sides. -3x was already negative . Hope I helped !
