5-(T-3)= -1+2(T-3)

Add 1 to both sides, and then add (T-3) to both sides. That gets you 6 = 3(T-3).
Divide both sides by 3 and you'll have 2 = (T-3).
Then add 3 to both sides, and you've got T, which presumably is what you want, yes?
