divide the fractions:
3/4 ÷ 1/2 = 3/4 × 2/1 = 6/4 = 1.5
That is, Mark ate 1.5 times as much as Julia, or 50% more.
3/4 ÷ 1/2 = 3/4 × 2/1 = 6/4 = 1.5
That is, Mark ate 1.5 times as much as Julia, or 50% more.

So we know that Mark at 3/4 of ice cream. Brenda at 1/2. 1/2 is larger than 3/4. The equation would be 1/2 ÷ 3/4 which we would have a reciprocal. 1/2 * 4/3 which is 4/3 or 1 whole and 1/3

Melanie,
1/2 = .5
3/4 = .75
1/2 is NOT larger than 3/4.
1/2 = .5
3/4 = .75
1/2 is NOT larger than 3/4.

The question states "how many times more?" AKA "How many times did Mark eat the amount Brenda ate?"
Brenda ate 1/2 (or 2/4).
Mark ate 3/4.
So, how many more times did Mark eat what Brenda ate?
He ate 2/4 once (1 of what Brenda ate)
Plus another 1/4 (1/2 of what Brenda ate)
Therefore:
2/4 + 1/4 = 3/4 (what Mark ate)
1 + 1/2 = 1 1/2 (the times Mark ate what Brenda ate)
How many MORE times did mark eat ice cream than Brenda?
1/2 more times.
