where woudl i put the propyl in 2-propyl benzoate? i thought the propyl had to be attactched to the O and wouldnt that just be 1-propyl not 2?

your OO is on the number 1 carbon on the benzene, next to it attach the propyl to that carbon.

No, the propyl is not attached to the O.

so would the benzene ring spot 1 have a double bonded O and a single bonded OH connected to it?
