There are (2.54cm)^3 per cubic inches

8.5ml=8.5/(2.54)^3 in^3

thank you, but im confused as to how i should write it out, we are using dimensional analysis. so should i multiply 8.5 times 2.54^3, or should i divide it.

just remember to multiply by one, carrying along the units you want to cancel.

8.5ml * 1cm^3/1ml * (1in/2.54cm)^3 = 8.5/2.54^3 in^3
