r+3
---- = 1
12
Multiply both sides by 12.
r + 3 = 12
Subtract 3 from both sides.
r = 9
__________________________
You can prove it by substituting 9 for r in the original equation.
12/12 = 1
---- = 1
12
Multiply both sides by 12.
r + 3 = 12
Subtract 3 from both sides.
r = 9

12/12 = 1
