Question

The earth is approx. a sphere. Its diameter is about 12 730 km. Water covers approx. 66 percent of the earths surface. How many square kilometres of land covers the earth?

Answers

Ms. Sue
Surface Area = 4 * pi * r^2

A = 4 * 3.14 * 6,365^2

A = 508,846,106

0.34 * 508,846,106 = ?

Ms. Sue
You're very welcome, Tiffany.

dee
where did you get the 0.34 from?
Rachel
The world is made up of land and earth. If there is 66% water then there can only be 34% land (whats left). 66% water plus 34% land = 100% of what makes up the earth.
