2x-3(x+4)= -5
The answer is -7 , but I am unable to get this answer. tried working problem several ways get different answers
for ex. I get -17 or 7
Please I need some help

2x-3(x+4)= -5 , now expand it
2x - 3x - 12 = -5 , combine the x's, add 12 to both sides
-x = -5 + 12 , simplify the right side
-x = 7 , divide both sides by -1
x = -7
