Question
a deep sea diving bell is being lowered at a constant rate. after 8 minutes, the bell is at a depth of 400 ft. after 40 minutes the bell is at a depth of 1700ft. use the ordered pairs (8,400) and (40,1700) to determine the average rate to lower the bell per minute. How would I do this? here are the answers that i can get a)32.5 b)40.6 c).02 d) 42.5
Answers
Using the order pairs,
avg = (1700-400)/(40-8) = 40.625
but that's just for the period from 8min-40min
For the whole dive, from time 0, depth 0,
1700/40 = 42.5
avg = (1700-400)/(40-8) = 40.625
but that's just for the period from 8min-40min
For the whole dive, from time 0, depth 0,
1700/40 = 42.5
