A student answered the following skill-testing question to try and win a prize:
(-4)^3-(-2)^4/2^2+5^2*7^0
The students answer was 5. Did the student win the prize?
I couldn’t seem to figure out how to answer this question. I got the answer -13, but my answer sheet said -43. I’m not very good with exponents, so could someone help me through this?

adding some spaces for readability,
(-4)^3 - (-2)^4 / 2^2 + 5^2 * 7^0
do powers first:
-64 - 16 / 4 + 25 * 1
now multiply or divide:
-64 - 4 + 25
now add and subtract:
-68+25 = -43
(-4)^3 - (-2)^4 / 2^2 + 5^2 * 7^0
do powers first:
-64 - 16 / 4 + 25 * 1
now multiply or divide:
-64 - 4 + 25
now add and subtract:
-68+25 = -43
