The Smiths have a pool that is 20 feet by 35 feet.
A 5 foot wide deck completely surrounds the pool.
The average depth of the pool = 6 feet.
How much surface area is covered by the proposed pool deck?

20ft.x35ft=700 ft
I added 5 ft to both to include the deck
25ftx40ft= 1000
I subtract the area of pool from above amount
1000-700= 300 ft.
Is that correct?
