"That drug companies should NOT waive patents on HIV drugs in the developing world"

Is this statement saying that drug companies should not give out drugs for free?

What would be some points I could use to back up this argument please?

To waive patents means to allow generic competition and much lower prices before drug patents expire. The waiving of patent rights would only apply in developing countries, where tens of millions of people would otherwise die because they or their public health providers cannot afford the drugs.

The only argument I can think of is to be able to maximize their profits and better support the research budget for new and better drugs.
