Write the standard equation of the ellipse with the given characteristics

vertices:(-8,1)(0,1) (-4,7) (-4,5)
center:(-4,1)

I think you have a typo
the centre (-4,1) must be the midpoint for both axes
it works for (-8,1 and (0,1) with 2a = 8 ----> a = 4

but (-4,1) is NOT the midpoint of (-4,7 and (-4,5)

the y values are incorrect
once you have them corrected,
2b = the difference in the y values, b = half of that

then after you have found b, replace it in

(x+4)^2 /4 + (y-1)^2 /b^2 = 1
