y=2x+6

x^2+y^2=8

10 answers

Substitute and solve for x then y.

x^2 + (2x+6)^2 = 8

x^2 + 4x^2 + 24x + 36 = 8
i have 5x^2+24x+28=0
PsyDAD what next?
X^2+24/5X+28/5=0
i got answer (-2,2) is this right?
too much work. Just use the quadratic formula.

Or, with a little work, you should be able to factor it:

(x+2)(5x+14) = 0

Then, knowing x, you can easily get y.
(-2,2) is one solution.
and if I'm right is one more (-2.8,0.4)
is quadratic equation the first one semi-ellipse?
the two equations are a line and a circle.

plot y=2x+6, x^2+y^2=8, x=-5..5, y=-5..5
thank you so much that really helped
