Cal left the diner with $18.53 in his wallet.How much money did he have when he entered the diner?

I added 2.95 and 1.25 and got 4.20. Than I added .95 and 4.20 and got 5.15. Than I added 18.53 and 5.15 and got 23.68.
Is this right?
